Funerals

A funeral marks the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief,
give thanks for the life lived, commend the person into God's keeping and pray for their soul.
It is of course a time of deep sadness, and as if losing a love one is not enough to contend with, there is the stress of organising and attending the funeral. The Funeral Directors will provide all the necessary advice and support when it comes to the practical elements of arranging the funeral.
But we are also here for you. Our clergy will meet with you to talk through the arrangements for the Christian funeral service - whether that is to be in church or at the crematorium. We will sit with you and talk through every aspect of the service, so that you and your family can say your final goodbyes in the most appropriate way for you. And we of course will also pray for the person who has passed away and their family in their time of grief.

Swinton is blessed with a beautifully peaceful churchyard (the largest open churchyard in England) and anyone who lives in Swinton is entitled to be either buried, or to have their ashes buried, in the churchyard - it does not matter whether or not they attended church or not.
